Redecoration and Other Stuff

Had the chance to mess with the WordPress settings today and ended up redoing the look of my entire blog. The previous theme was nice, but entirely overused and I decided I wanted something less common. The banner art is also my work, though it was drawn originally for my World of Imarel game site. For those who want to see the original, look no further than my DeviantART site. I’m happily surprised as to how it turned out. I also added copyright protection from the folks at MyFreeCopyright.com.  Since I really can’t afford to sink money into upgrading to the ‘pro’ features, this was the most reasonable solution.

In other news, I think I’m going to give a shot at Chuck Wendig’s Flash Fiction Challenge. I’ve got a few ideas all ready, but it’s just a matter of keeping it to 1,000 words. I’m not exactly a concise writer so this’ll be a good exercise for me. And now, dinner and an evening of goofing off on IRC.

  1. Flash fiction under 500 words is fun. 1000 words gives you a lot of creative leash. In our creative writing class we had do write flash fiction. Harder than you think, but I know you can do it!! I like the new look, too.

    • 1,000 words will be easy for me. 500 wouldn’t be much different than the posts we used to do on AOL back in the 90’s. I think I can do it if I stick to being concise.

  2. Your new look is great! I’ll be visiting you on deviant art. I’ve never tried flash fiction. My projects are novel sized, not always a good thing. It might be fun to try something short, for a change! Good luck and enjoy the challenge.

    • Thanks for leaving a comment. My DeviantART isn’t anything special. I’m a passable artist but I still enjoy scribbling out the ideas in my head now and again. 😉 For me, I’m kind of the opposite. while I tend to be a bit wordy as a writer, my two attempts at writing a novel sort of puttered out. I’m sort of training myself to write longer format, by starting with short stories, to help me develop more complex ideas. I’ll eventually work myself up to trying a novel again.

  3. Another thing that might help stimulate the ideas and writing muscle is to buy a book with writing prompts. Share me your email and I will send you what I did last year and spoil you with my silly and interesting outcomes.
